What your role at the BHP entails: I volunteer at the BRC warehouse and at some of the distribution centres. My role involves sorting donated food into date order, making up food parcels for clients, meeting and greeting clients and making up food parcels at any of the ten distribution centres.
Favourite film and why: The Bridge over the River Kwai. It was the first film I went to see with my Mum.
Favourite book and why: ‘Jane Eyre’ by Charlotte Bronte, which I read as a child. I loved it because it is so gripping and I couldn’t wait to read what happened next.
Favourite album and why: any of the early Beatles albums, especially ‘Please Please Me’.
Hobbies and interests: I am a chorister in the Rock Choir and the Sing Our Socks Off choirs. We perform nationally and raise funds for charities. I have made so many friends through the choirs, and enjoy the social side as much as the singing!
Person you most admire and why: the person I most admire is my dad. He was my step-dad but he adopted me, so he was my father. He was a very fair man, I never heard him criticise anyone (apart from football referees!), and he only saw the good in people., which is something not a lot of people can say.
Favourite quote: “Don’t make fish for one and fowl for another.” I heard this phrase as a child and it has stuck with me ever since-to treat everyone with the same respect and courtesy.
Interesting fact: I once did belly-dancing for over a year, and I enjoyed every minute of it!
