The Big Help project could not operate without the support of literally hundreds of people who give up their time or help in some other way.
Volunteer your time
There are many opportunities to help and to invest some of your time, either regularly for a few hours a week or per fortnight or perhaps just on an occasional basis. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, gain new skills and always looks good on a CV. Help is often needed with various administrative tasks, with sorting food, or perhaps working directly with the public. Sometimes we do a supermarket collection on a Saturday and welcome an hour or two of people’s time. Whatever your skills and availability, we would like to hear from you. For more information about how you can volunteer please email us or download the volunteer application form.
The majority of the food that we give out has been donated by the public. This is a simple, relatively inexpensive and very effective way to help make a difference to literally thousands of people in our community. The food needs to be non-perishable, un-damaged and within its sell by date. Many offices have a box available for staff to contribute to, and many churches, schools and other organisations have got involved by making either one-off or regular contributions. Ideally food should be brought to our storage area in Kirkby, but where this is not possible please contact us to find a location near you where food can be donated. If needed we may also be able to arrange to collect the food from you. Please click here to download a poster that contains a list of the food that we require.
Make a financial contribution
Everything we do in life costs money and that includes the work of the Big Help Project. Whether you would like to give regularly or make a one off donation your contribution, however large or small will really make a difference. If you are a UK tax payer please do consider signing a gift aid form as that will enable us to receive an additional 25% at no extra cost to yourself. Please download a standing order form and/or a gift aid form below.
To make either a single or regular donation to the Big Help Project/Knowsley Foodbank in a really simple and quick way please click on the Donate button at the top of this page.
Recycle books, ink jet cartridges, toner or old mobile phones
Did you know that we recycle books, ink jet and toner cartridges as well as old mobile phones to raise money for the Big Help project? We can receive any books as long as they are not damp or have torn covers. Please drop any of the above items off at our storage area in Kirkby or contact us to see if we are able to collect them from you.
