The latest initiative from the Big Help Project!
Get Connected Incorporates members of the already established Next Steps and Jubilee Debt Advice teams, alongside a Digital and Financial Inclusion worker. Get Connected are based in the foodbank distribution centres, where experienced, practiced staff are on hand to offer clients one to one advice and support in the following areas:
- Debt Advice- trained advisors from the Jubilee Debt Advice team help clients to manage their personal finances, deal with debt problems and manage a budge.
- Next Steps - staff from the Next Steps team support clients back into work and assist with searching for the right job or course, creating a CV, preparing for an interview.
- Digital and Financial Inclusion - clients are shown how to use the Internet, looking at work and training opportunities, searching for the best utility offers, making cheaper purchases, opening a Credit Union or bank account
A member of the Get Connected team is based in each of the local foodbank distribution centres between 12 and 2pm and welcomes clients on a drop-in basis and/or arranges a private interview as required.
The Get Connected team aim to welcome clients into a supportive, non-threatening environment and provide them with relevant opportunities and skills that will enable them to break out of the cycle of poverty.
